#10 SSSS.GRIDMAN
This is the newest anime on my list, which is also why it’s the lowest on the list. I still need time to fully dissect this anime because a lot of what makes it amazing in my eyes is hidden underneath the surface. On the surface, this anime is a love letter to the Tokusatsu genre, and I think it does a great job at emulating its predecessors while also adding a new modern spin on the genre. As per usual, Studio Trigger does a wonderful job at animating this anime.
Thanks to the animation, the level of care and detail that is put into this really show through. The atmosphere is top notch. The world is empty and there is an air of unease constantly emanating from the mysterious world that the characters inhabit. This one stuck with me because each episode that passed slowly unraveled the mystery surrounding the characters. That mystery leads to an amazing case study that I can’t really discuss here because it would be giving away too much of the story. I recommend that you check it out if you want to learn more. (Editors notes: I also really enjoy this anime because all of the characters are designed after characters from Transformers.)
